At James North, Parent & Child Dedication is a time for us to celebrate with parents, who are a part of our church family, their commitment to guide their child to follow Christ in a lifelong journey. It is a time for parents to consider how they will model their faith and for our church family to affirm our spiritual support for them in the parenting journey. This celebration takes place during a Sunday Worship service and includes a time of congregational prayer, prayer for the parents, and prayer for the children.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE SERVICE

Participating families are encouraged to invite family and close friends to attend. We will ask you to have someone ready to join you at the front of the service to pray for you as parents, and join with some of our elders in laying on hands as we pray.  The service will also include a congregational prayer of affirmation and a time of prayer for the children.

For more information, please contact Paul Havercroft.

A FINAL NOTE: Please note that this is not an infant baptism. We believe that when people are old enough to understand what it means to put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ as their Saviour, they should have the opportunity to make that choice for themselves. A young child is not able to understand sin, forgiveness, the sacrifice Jesus made for us, and what it means to have a relationship with Jesus. This event is about your commitment as a parent to lead your child into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, so that as they get older, you are able to guide them and help them understand what that means.
